Our story

Why we built Lumen

We noticed something: teens and young adults were caught between apps that felt too clinical and social feeds that felt performative. There was no warm, private space to just sit with your feelings.

So we built one. Lumen is a cozy mood check-in and guided journaling experience shaped for real life — school, sleep, friendships, late nights. It meets you right where you are.

Lumen — calm and supportive design

Our mission

To give every teen and young adult a warm, private routine that helps them notice how they feel and find their grounding — without clinical labels, social performance, or the pressure to be consistent.

What guides us

Four principles shape every decision we make — from the words we use to the features we build.

Cozy, not clinical

Support should feel like a warm blanket, not a waiting room. Lumen uses gentle language that normalizes feelings and invites small, kind steps.

Simple, not overwhelming

Every screen has one clear action. We keep things short, forgiving, and easy to come back to — especially on your hardest days.

Yours only, always

Your data, your rules. We default to privacy, offer opt-in reminders, and make it easy to export or delete everything whenever you want.

Gentle, not pressured

We encourage reflection without scores, streaks, or guilt. Showing up — even once in a while — is more than enough.
